Automatically expand notes box as more information is entered
'Note' text box should automatically expand downwards if the contents go beyond the default 2 lines.
Currently, if you type more than 2 lines, you can only view the information below if you manually expand the text box, or scroll down.
Often it is not clear if there is more information below the 2 first lines, especially if listing things on separate lines.1 vote -
QBO Project Visibility in Customer Dropdown menu
With the customer dropdown when integrated with QBO - using projects: it would be very helpful to have the Customer:Project show up in the dropdown list rather than having each project broken out as its own customer. We need the connected hierarchy visible.
4 votesThanks for your feedback. We have made it more clear when an entry in the customer list is a sub-customer of a given customer. All projects are sub-customers in Quickbooks Online so the new tooltip marking sub-customers in the customer list will help to identify them.
This help centre article has screenshots to further illustrate:

Thanks again for your feedback.

Integrate with QBO Projects
It would be great if we could post directly to QBO Projects!
203 votesThanks for your feedback on this issue! We have now clarified the handling of projects with Quickbooks Online. To assign an item to a project in Quickbooks select the relevant sub customer from the customer drop down on the item detail page. Sub customers are now marked with a tooltip that shows that they are a sub-customer and which customer they belong to.
This help centre outlines the process: https://help.dext.com/en/s/article/how-to-use-projects-in-quickbooks-online
Thanks again for your input.

Original images of invoices/receipts attached to expense report
A way for the invoice/receipt to automatically be attached to the expense report in the integrated software, not just as a link in the PDF.
185 votesHi there,
The ability to include source document images within the Expense Report PDF export is now live. Select 'Report with receipts' on the detail level in the PDF export screen. See screenshot attached.
Including images in your accounting software with the published expense report has not yet been worked on, but we are aware of it.
Hope this helps!

Support Credit Notes for Sales Invoices
The type field is greyed out default to "invoice", unable to select "credit".
I need the option to publish as either invoice or a credit note rather than inputting manually in accounting software.
173 votesHello,
Good news, sales credit notes are now supported in Dext Prepare for Xero and QuickBooks Online.
You can publish a sales credit note by choosing ‘Type > Sales Credit Note’ on the item detail page.

Approval process for individual Invoices/expenses/bills
Simple bill approval system integrated into Dext Prepare. Mark an item as requires approval - Mark user who can approve (can be saved for automatic fill-in for this supplier) - it shifts the bill to a new list (awaiting approval) - send that user an email to tell them it is there.
They logon, click approve and it sends the bill to the normal awaiting export list, hey presto simple, no need for comments or anything like that.
At the moment, I have to export the image, email it, await email confirmation etc, difficult to keep track of.

Supplier statement reconciliation
Can you please build the functionality for us to reconcile supplier statements against their invoices for the month. This is key for us in managing our supplier payments.
It would be useful to have:
1) A place to store Supplier Statements
2) The ability to check whether there's an invoice on file for each line on the statement
3) The ability to check if the amounts on the Statement match the amounts on the individual invoices144 votes -

Could you please extract the body of an email, when the item is added as a separate attachment, as the Description?

Edit Category List
The ability to edit and delete Category Lists.
18 votesHi,
Thanks for your feedback, this functionality is now live in Dext. Please bear in mind however that this is only possible when your account is not integrated with an accounting software; when your Dext account is integrated with an accounting software the category lists are controlled by the integration and simply sync'd to Dext.
Kind regards,

Change the expense report approver
Hi. If we have an employee that sent an expense report claim to the wrong approver, can we have the option to reverse this?
127 votesHi there,
We released a fix for this 🎉
The enhanced expense claims approval experience, which was launched this week, will automatically route expense claims to the right person based on the approvals settings.
Just go to settings to set up new workflows for the new expense claim approvals experience.
This means it'll be less likely to need to change the approver once it's been submitted. But if you do need to change them you can do in settings to make it smoother.
Also, now you can take expense claims out of the approval process by clicking 'edit' or 'reject'.

Extract location/projects to assign automatically on the invoice
Have a way to extract location and classes (QBO) on the invoice as when you have several locations for one same supplier, it would be very useful to have it assigned automatically on the invoice.
Otherwise, we are losing time to go back to the invoice and change it manually
As for now, we can only assign one location to a supplier's rule.15 votesWe now predict classed (QBO) and Tracking Categories (Xero) thanks for providing the feedback to make this feature better.

Assign a certain supplier to a certain member for approval
To assign a certain supplier to a certain member in the team for them to approve the invoices/expenses, by them getting an email reminder that there is invoices in ‘Dext’ to be approved
7 votesHi there,
Approval workflows for cost items was released a couple of weeks ago 🎉
This new features offers the ability to route approvals by supplier, category, time type and projects. Approvers will be emails and they can see everything they need to approve in the new Approval tab in the inbox.
If you’re an admin, head to settings and set up approval workflows from there.

Control over font Format of downloaded expense reports
The font in the report is not dark enough to read. When Expense reports are downloaded as pdf, I download to email and the recipients complain the text of the report is too faint to read, or when printed is too faint to read
Also my criticism of the text being too light. I appreciate that the development team must address this but it would be nice to have control over report structure
As I must email expense reports to those that approve payment, it's most concerning that they complain about the report being difficult to review. I don't like…
13 votesHi all,
We recently released a new PDF export of Expense Reports in Dext which has much darker and larger font as well as a clearer layout.
Hopefully this solves your problem, feel free to reach out with anything else.
Best,

Expense approver user hierarchy
We have expense approvers who approve only their direct reports. At the moment if they have the user type expense approver they have the power to view all submitted items. We need the option to set an expense approver user to only view the items for particular users under the multiuser account not everyone.
104 votesHi there,
Enhanced approvals for expense claims were released last week 🎉.
With the new version, only approvers or admins have the right to view other people's items. You can also route expense claims to the user's manager too, who will only be able to see items that have been sent to them for approval.
If you're an admin, go to settings to set up an approval workflow for expense claims.

Add pdf from phone app
At the moment the app only lets you take a photo and upload that.
Please make it able to click through to an iCloud or google drive folder and add from there too.
