Data Field Mapping Tool
Design a selection tool box in supplier rules that can be used to help the machine learning system identify a particular field on a document. For example, if we get bills from a vendor every month where Dext constantly seems to struggle to locate the invoice number, it would be really great if we could go into that supplier's rules and specifically show Dext where the invoice number is on that particular supplier's bill format for all future invoices in the inbox.
Hello everyone,
We have just launched AI Assist which helps automate more of the bookkeeping work you already do in Dext:
- Automatically apply the correct VAT treatments to documents
- Categorise documents using context, beyond supplier rules
- Reduce repetitive data corrections
- Stay fully in control of what automation is applied
We’d encourage you to give it a try and see how it fits into your workflow.

We often struggle with invoices where references and descriptions are not accurately mapped through. The reference should ideally be mapped to a custom field, like a vehicle licence plate, and the description should be the description of the product. So it would be amazing if we could set up rules for custom mapping.

You can configure extraction settings under Business settings > Extraction to set default behaviors for various fields. However, there's no specific setting to map custom field names like "Claim Received" to the Document Reference field automatically.
For exports, you can use the "Dext Default" export format which includes an "Invoice Number" column populated with each item's document reference.
Since you're processing hundreds of documents weekly with this consistent field mapping need, I'd recommend submitting this as a feature request via the Resources (?) button in your Dext account > Suggest a feature for custom field mapping capabilities. -

This would be incredibly helpful! I work with a lot of contractors that do job costing, and it would be great if I could tell Dext where the project names appear on the receipt/invoices along with invoice numbers and document labels (i.e., invoice instead of statement)
