  1. Currently you cannot edit VAT rates and classes in the approvals section. Therefore if these need updating, you have to reject the invoice and send it back to the inbox to adjust, which is very time consuming. It would be great if there were the options to edit more categories in the approvals section.

    Hi everyone,

In addition to the existing edit options, you can now specify who can edit tax rates, products and services, and projects during the approval process.

    All the best,

    The Dext Team

  2. To improve employee experience for expense submission and reports it would be great if we could adjust settings so that they could see either limited categories for expenses or none at all - same with classes. I do not expect our employees to know our finance classes and it is a time consuming experience for them to scroll through the entire chart of accounts looking for 'meals' or such. I instruct them not to bother categorizing, as between Dext and the finance team we got it, but they still email asking what category to select out of the long list…

    Hi everyone,

    Thank you for your feedback!

We’ve just released a new update that gives you more control over what your users can see in Dext.

Admins can now limit the visibility of specific categories, payment methods, properties, and more.

To make managing access even easier, Admins can now preview which groups a user belongs to, and see exactly which list items are visible to them.

You can configure this in Business Settings > Lists > List Visibility.

This update is designed to give you greater flexibility and help keep things streamlined for your team.

    All the best,

    The Dext Product Team

  3. Clients using Dext Solo currently cannot access their own reports—only partners have this capability. Many of my clients see Making Tax Digital as an opportunity to gain real‑time visibility into their income and expenses. However, without direct access to their reports, clients are unable to benefit from these valuable insights.

  4. Reminders to approve an invoice after x amount of days... if not approved by x amount of days then moves to their manager for approval. This would take away the need to micro manage the approval workflow process.

Exciting news - approval reminders are now available in Dext!

By default, approvers with outstanding approval requests will receive a summary email on Monday's at 9am.

You can change this setting any time by heading to Business settings -> Approvals -> Reminders:

Feel free to reply to this email with any feedback.

    Enjoy!

Anna from the Dext product team

  5. The accountants and owners need to see the approval status in QuickBooks as they do not use Dext. Currently this information does not transfer to QuickBooks and QuickBooks online has a spot for approval status. They should be able to open a bill in QB and see that it has been approved without any additional documentation.

  6. In the mileage feature to claim back Government official rates - you are missing the second rate for company cars that are electric. Home charging is 0.07p, but from a public charger it is 0.14p. Can you update your software to show this.

  7. Allow to set a future date for payment runs. This can help with cash flow planning and allow multiple runs to be signed off that stretch over a number of weeks/months.

i.e. If you create a payment run on the 12th of the month but you want to pay it on the 25th of the month

  9. Currently, the invoices in the "Approvals" section are static, lacking the ability to filter or search for specific items. It would be greatly beneficial to incorporate the same filtering and search features available in the "Inbox" and "Ready" sections into the "Approvals" section. This enhancement would significantly improve efficiency and ease of use.

You can now filter and search in the approval tabs. Thank you for taking the team to vote and comment on this request.

  10. After trialling our first payment run, we noticed Payments does not allow for partially paid invoices to be included. These could have overpayments assigned to them or even just credit notes.

It should be possible to include partially paid invoices by including only the outstanding balance. For security, when these are added to the payment runs, it should come with a warning; even when approvers are checking the runs it should require their sign-off prior to complete approval.

  11. While removing invoices not bulked together with other invoices for the same supplier, it would be beneficial to have the ability to remove individual invoices from these bulks while keeping the other invoices on the payment run. This would reduce the need to create other payment runs and reduce time spent on another approvals process.

  12. We have quite a number of suppliers and normally set the approver by supplier. In a lot of cases we have more than 50 suppliers being approved by one individual and this means that we have to use more than one workflow for one approver. We have now exhausted the amount of workflows available as this appears to be limited to 20.

    Hi there,

You can now bulk request approval, straight from the cost, sales and expense claim inboxes.

Select the items you want to send for approval, click 'tools' and from there you'll see the request approval button.

Thanks for voting and commenting on this request.

    Enjoy.

  14. We have a client that approves based on which salesman is assigned to a customer/job. If we could trigger approvals based on the customer, they could stop using a competitor's software and keep all of their workflow in Dext.

    Hi there,

Good news, you can now set up cost approval workflows based on a customer. Head to approval settings in Business Settings to check it out.

Thanks for voting on this request!

  15. I just want to provide feedback that the dropdown/search item menu is popping up on the upper left hand corner of my screen instead of directly below the box I am selecting, which is significantly slowing down my workflow for selecting and clicking the item I want. Please review and move back to where it was originally. Thanks!

  17. The new prepayment feature is game-changing. Although it does need improvement, an option to split the cost over the days in which the document covers would be great (for example, is 30 day invoice period split evenly across two months, halves the amount in each period). Currently, it's not splitting the expense correctly and is a little inconsistent with the dates on the journals. The idea is really good, just needs tweaking to work to its best ability.

  18. It would be very useful to be able to set up an Approval Workflow based on the user who has submitted the expense.

In some situations a manager of a department needs to approve the charges one of their team has made. There may be 5 receipts from Staples in Dext, but as a manager I only need to approve the Staples purchase that was made by MY admin, not the staples purchases made by other departments. Therefore, being able to set up an approval workflow that includes the submitter would separate out the Staples purchase that needs my attention…

    Hi all,

We recently released the ability to set up approval workflows based on the document owner of the item. You can now do this across all document types (costs, sales and expense claims).

Go to business settings to adjust your approval workflow settings and feel free to email me directly if you have any more questions.

    Enjoy!

    Anna

  19. At each stage the approver should be able to add notes when approving an invoice. There are many instances 2whent he approver will approve the invoice and give instructions to the accounting dept. For example. I am approving this invoice but please pay 50% now and 50% in 10 days of my approval etc

    Hi there,

Anna here from the Dext product team.

Today we released the ability to approve items with a comment. Take a look at the image attached to see how it works.

Let me know how you get on - feel free to email me directly if you have any feedback.

    Enjoy!

  20. Include all receipts to expense claims. When an expense claim is posted to QBO, it's posted as a bill with a pdf of an expense claim. Though this expense claim includes all itemized and categorized purchases, it's essential to include the actual copies of receipts as support to legitimize the dollar amounts claimed for audit and managerial purposes. If I have to manually attach every receipt, it's cumbersome and inconvenient for the viewer to open the expense claim and each additional receipt to double check accuracy.
